RagaMuffin catRagaMuffin Cat Fanciers joined with two other cat clubs the fourth weekend in April to produce the Fabulous Feline Festival at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. To say it was a lot of work is an understatement. The preparation and planning took months. It required a team of people putting forth an effort to put on a cat show that exhibitors, judges, vendors and spectators would enjoy.

It was a challenge for sure. For the first time, I was a co-manager of an event like this. Exhibitors came from across the country and overseas to show off their beautiful cats. There were certainly bumps in the road in the days and weeks leading up to the show. But, the good news is, the weekend went smoothly. Minor glitches were handled easily.

Besides the judging, spectators could enjoy a cat costume contest, educational talks, and vendors with catcentric merchandise along with raffles! I was very busy Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was long hours on my feet for set up, follow through and tear down. Club members and even exhibitors played roles in getting it all done.

I pulled Nougat out of retirement to be a Pet Me cat. It’s been a while since he went to a show. He performed his magic for visitors that stopped by to meet him. With age, his charisma is still outstanding! He wore a proper bow tie for most of the weekend.

I took several kittens to be evaluated. Smartie came out on top, making most of the judge’s finals. The rosettes awarded were stunning. The RagaMuffin club even gave out extra huge rosettes for best muffin in kitten class, premiership and championship.

I was thrilled that iCandy Skor, owned and shown by friends, earned enough points to complete his CFA Grand Premiership.

Without a another friend of mine riding a train from NYC to the Philly area to take charge of getting my cats to the rings, it would have been impossible for me to get my cats in front of the judges due to my other duties. It takes a village it seems.

After getting home from the show, it took me a couple of days to unload the car. It also took a couple of days for me to recover!
